For Max, vintage style is an immersive experience, reflected
not only in his work, but in his lifestyle—including
designing and building the retro-inspired environments, furnishings
and decorative accessories in his home, garden, and office.
An avid percussionist, Max also builds instruments called cajon
drums, and actively gigs throughout the area.
“I do live my work, on the inside and outside,” he
says. “When I go into another room, say to have lunch,
I’m among the same sorts of graphics, the same design
sensibilities that I work with when I’m sitting down
to do a job. The fact that my whole environment basically works
with my sensibility and my happiness means that when inspiration
hits me, I’m ready for it, and it’s really great
to be there.”
